There are reports that Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir has married his daughter to his brother’s son. The low-key but high-profile wedding took place on December 26 (Friday) in Rawalpindi, reportedly at the Army Headquarters.

The marriage was confirmed by Pakistani journalist Zahid Gishkori, who posted on X that the Pakistan Army Chief married his daughter, Mahnoor, to his nephew, Captain Abdul Rehman Qasim.

The marriage function, as per Zahid, was attended by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Province CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and other high-profile personalities.

One of the media reports quoted that some 400 people were present at the wedding, including former Army Chiefs and retired generals.

According to Zahid, who is Editor Investigation at Hum News Network, as per his X profile, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was in the country on a day-long visit on December 26 – the day of the marriage, did not attend the ceremony.

No photographs or details of the wedding have been released, considering the sensitive nature of the presence of high-profile leaders at the function. The Statesman was also not able to find any news of the wedding in the Pakistani media.

The Pakistani journalist, in a video posted on X, said Asim Munir has four daughters, and this was the marriage of his third daughter, Mahnoor.

Mahnoor got married to her cousin Abdul Rehman, who has served as a captain in the Pakistan Army. He is currently working as an assistant commissioner in the Pakistan civil service, which he joined under the armed forces quota.
